The Lindow Man suffered a horrific death. He was struck on the top of his head twice with a heavy object (thought to be a narrow bladed axe), and received a brutal blow to the back which resulted in one rib being broken. A thin cord was then tied around his neck to strangle him and break the neck. The Lindow Man's throat was cut and he was placed in a pool in the bog after he had already died.
